Ruth’s work proves to be sew inspiring

PITLOCHRY-BASED textiles artist Ruth Morris launched her new Glenlyon capsule collection as part of a Perthshire Open Studios event at the weekend.
Studios across Perthshire are open to the public from September 7 to 15 and a brochure is available from libraries, tourist boards, galleries and many cafes and restaurants.
Visitors to Ruth’s studio saw a range of tweed clothing created using Ruth’s signature style.
She said: “Having lived in the area for many years, I feel quite rooted and connected to the surrounding landscape.  This is the first time I have worked with another tweed.
“Glenlyon tweed has a beautiful drape, soft handle and almost a bloom on its surface – a joy to work with and refreshingly different.”
She added: “I’ve also sourced handmade oak buttons from Libby Scott in Stanley, created digitally printed silks and cotton as well as some unusual and bespoke items such as Harris tweed, cord, denim and fleece.”
Ruth’s studio can be found in Moulin, near the hotel and pub.  More information is available at www.roobedo.com .
