Sewing skills and projects with upcycling in mind
6 week course
Wednesday nights starting 21st February (£40)
Pitlochry High School, East moulin Road, Pitlochry. PH16 5ET
After a lovely block with 10 keen sewers last Nov/Dec, I am continuing with a short course of sewing and skill building, using recycled and old fabrics, including a stash of Roobedo scraps. We will start by re-capping on the triangle purses and experimenting with fusibles, linings and zip ends to make these incredibly useful phone charger and cable tidies. Then we will be looking at ‘lounge pants’, or what I call jammies! Focusing on technical skill such as inserting an elastic waist, drawstring waist, pockets in side seams, jetted pockets (for the more serious sewers out there) and rolled hems. We will have a go at some little samples to build confidence and there will be an overlocker to use. If there’s time, we will also look at creating a Book bag, or Flap bag – which has been requested!
You will need some old duvet covers, table cloths, remnants of cloth suitable, as well as the usual sewing kit. Bring your sewing machine if you have one too.

And…
…here’s a little summary of some of the projects from the last block of lessons…Triangle purses and giant Hobo bag from re-purposed scraps and cosy mittens from old sweaters! (with a swing tag stamped with a rubber stamp made in Ciara Gibson’s stamping and gellie printing course called ‘Make Space’.)
