Saturday 2nd October 2020
10am – 4pm
Moulin Hall, Pitlochry, Scotland.
Try your hand at crafting your own Japanese Boro and Sashiko bag or purse inspired by the tradition of recycling and reworking pre-existing textiles.
It’s a very therapeutic way to spend a day, slowing right down, arranging pieces of beautiful fabrics before stitching into place by hand and machine to form a panel. You can then decide whether to make your panel into a bag or a purse. Ruth will work with you every step of the way, offering one-to-one advice, help and inspiration with samples and references. It’s a great little project to help you connect with fabric and sewing, and the simplicity of the project enables you to get to know your sewing machine again or simply enjoy a day of producing a unique textile product of your own with a lovely group of like-minded people!
Perfect for beginners and intermediate level sewers.
No material needed (unless you think you have a fabric you might like to incorporate into your design) and you need no equipment, but a sewing kit (with sharp scissors) and your own sewing machine would be a good idea if you have one. Always good to bring your own machine to these events, as there’s nothing like having the opportunity to use your very own machine. Ruth can give you advice on how to clean it and keep it in tip top condition too!
You will be using Sashiko needles and thread and the fabric available will be off-cuts of organic denim leftover from Ruth’s production of garments, as well as an assortment of pre-loved fabrics. There will also be some amazing pieces of Harris tweed and linen scraps in there for you to add in if you wish.
Maximum 6 persons
Date: Sat 2nd October
Time: 10.00 – 4.00pm
Venue: The Moulin Hall, behind the Moulin Kirk, Kirkmichael Road, Pitlochry.
Lunch: Bring a pack lunch.
There will be tea, coffee and biscuits available all day.
Workshop Cancellations, Changes, and Refunds?
Should you wish to cancel or make any changes to your workshop booking then please phone Ruth on 0781 470 4256 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may cancel with a full refund five or more working days before the course or workshop start date. For cancellations made five or fewer working days before the event, no refund or changes to a booking can be made.
I may be able to offer you a place on an equivalent course or workshop instead of a refund if we are notified up to five working days before the course or workshop start date, and if there is availability.
In the unlikely event that a workshop is cancelled, Ruth will offer you the choice to transfer your space to the next available workshop, a workshop of your choosing, or offer you a full refund. You will be informed of cancellations at least three days before the event.
