Ruth’s Glenlyon tweed clothing on display
Pitlochry based Textile Artist Ruth Morris has launched her new Glenlyon tweed ‘capsule collection’ as part of Perthshire open Studios.
“Having lived in the area for many years, I feel quite connected to the surrounding landscape,” explained Ruth (42) who is originally from Dundee and works under the name ‘Roobedo’. She sells to people all over the world and is recommended by the Harris Tweed Authority. Ruth supplies shops occassionally but does 90% directly on-line via her website www.roobedo.com. And she’s using a material made just down the road in Aberfeldy.
“Glenlyon tweed has a beautiful drape, soft handle and almost a bloom on its surface – a joy to work with,” she added.
Visitors to her studio this weekend will see a range created using Roobedo’s signature style. Ruth says:”I’ve sourced handmade oak buttons from Libby Scott in Stanley and had silks and cotton digitally printed in Glasgow. As well as some unusual and bespoke items, there will be Harris tweed, cord, denim and fleece pieces available too.”
Open from 10am-5pm daily for this year’s Perthshire Open Studios event, Ruth’s studio is located in Moulin, just behind the Moulin Hotel.
